Tech Help

We have had several sisters ask if there will be a way to get help with technology issues. If you have a question about an issue you are having, feel free to email Telecommunications Chair Dawn Hudson.

Protecting Yourself from Phishing and Online Scams

Dawn has presented to some local chapters about online safety with technology. Her powerpoint is linked below and could be used in a chapter meeting since the Powerpoint its interactive and allows sisters to try and find emails (safely) which are real and which are fake, etc. There are also screenshots of some actual scams which have affected some of our own sisters.

Artificial Intelligence

Dawn Hudson (your webmaster) has been doing some presentations for chapters about AI (Artificial Intelligence). As always, her presentations involve INTERACTIVE portions, so please print these sheets off and enjoy as a program with your sisters. To make this more fun, require that only POSITIVE comments are made about AI so the mood stays happy and no one veers down the path of being scared of this new technology. It is FAR from perfect and using these few tools highlighted can show our members that it is something that can be embraced like other changes quickly happening in the world of technology!

Newsletter Templates
While there are several good ones shared amongst sisters, including a Word version template given out during a Gulf Region training by Immediate Past Gulf President Debby Stubing when she was the Florida Alpha Delta Kappa President, reference guides from the software vendors are first listed below.

This is a plug and play template that I create from my first newsletter based on what I learned from Debby Stubing’s training at Gulf.
It is saved three ways:

  1. PDF for you to print and use as a reference
  2. Word 2013 document so can be opened and edited

Note on these templates, the center and columns are the areas you tweak to address your current monthly meeting/program and items coming up in subsequent months.

You may also choose to use a free account from Canva. Here is a set of videos to get your started. This is the program currently being used by the Georgia President Norma Rushing.

Updating Membership Contact Information without filling out a H-119 form.
A new feature on Alpha Delta Kappa International website, Chapter Presidents can update their chapter rosters on the website eliminating the use of the H-119, Report for Member Changes form, except in cases of chapter transfers. Click here to see the PDF created by International which provides step by step instructions for making such changes. Go to the Alpha Delta Kappa website and login. Then go to the DIRECTORY and click on “My Chapter Roster”. Click on the name of the member you’d like to update. Individual members can also update their individual contact information on the International website. Steps are similar to the directions provided for the Chapter Presidents. Note: any changes made on the International website need to be sent to Georgia’s Past President for updating the state directory. Please send changes currently to GA Immediate Past President Debbie Clark. Her email address is obtained by logging into this website and going to the Executive Board Page.
